Donatas is the key fighter in my block
Roman Nesterenko (RUS) Interview
1. What’s your opinion about the draw?
I had a good impression. It will be very hard to win this tournament as the
line up of the fighters has a very high level.
2. Which fight would be the hardest in your block?
There are a lot of strong fighters in my block who has won numerous tournaments. I’d say Donatas Imbraham would be the hardest hurdle for me.
3. Who would be your toughest opponent?
Everyone who I’d fight against.
4. What’s your current aim?
To win the tournament, you need to equip everything such as power, stamina, speed and techniques.
5. What’s the point to win?
It’s necessary to study the opponents’ tactics as well as to have a high level of techniques, physical and mental strength, courage and the experiences.
6. How often do you train a week/day?
I train 6 times a week, twice a day.
7. How often do you do weight training in a week?
There are about 2 weight training sessions in my weekly training scheme.
8. Is there anything you’ve noticed/changed throughout the training for the WT?
Currently I’m following peak fitness and each guideline follows my training schedule. I’m expecting to have the best condition at the tournament.
9. What was your reaction and situation when you heard about the Fukushima Earthquake news?
I was in Russia when I heard the news. First thing came on my mind was my Japanese friends. How is everything doing? Is everyone safe? It is a very horrible incident.
10. Any messages for the victims of the earthquake?
I send my deepest sincere to all Japanese citizens. I believe Japanese people can definitely get through such natural disaster. I would like to help if there is anything I or any Russian can assist.
11. What do you think of Japan’s activity to convey a safe environment?
The 10th World Tournament has to be held in Tokyo to pay respect and carry away the origin of our traditional of our
sport Karate.
12. What do you think we can do for this through Karate?
This tournament will build a strong bond to people not only in Japan but to people from around the world.
13. What do you think of the Japanese team?
Japanese team is always very strong. It is great to see a range of fighters from young ones to experienced one especially Tsukamoto and Tsukakoshi.
14. What are your aspirations for this tournament?
I will do my best to perform at my best at the tournament. Osu.
